S.A.A.F Fairey Battle

S.A.A.F Fairey Battle

Airfix Fairey Battle

The South African Air Force used the Battle to great extent and success in the East African campaign bombing Italian airfields and tank formations. It was obtained from the British on lend-lease agreement as the two countries had good ties.

This is the Airfix kit and is a really old kit, it had raised panel lines and a closed canopy,no cockpit detail to speak of and some issues with the fitting of wings to fuselage. It also has almost no undercarriage detail but does have the option to have bomb bay doors open.

I wasn't to worried with the detail as i just wanted a Battle in South African colors for my S.A.A.F collection and this one did the job.

Airfix BF-110 C/D

This was a really nice kit to build, not much cockpit detail but am sure with some aftermarket extras that some guys might add would turn out great. The kit itself is really nice and Airfix has done a really good job with their new tooling.

Italeri BF-110 G-4/R3

This is a great little kit from Italeri and is great for a BF-110 collection if you want the nightfighter version of the BF-110. This was a nice kit to build, detail was great and the kit went together well. The decals was of good quality and cockpit interior was decent.

Airfix BF-110 E

Another great BF-110 kit from Airfix, kit builds really well with no problems, decals are printed well and nice to see a desert BF-110 on the market for all those guys interested in the desert war of WWII.

I built this model from the old ICM kit, this was a very nice kit in 1/48 scale. The cockpit was nicely detailed and even came with seat belt decals in case you displayed with open canopy. I found the kit a relative easy kit to build and it went together really nicely. The decals i obtained from another supplier as it didn't come with the kit.

Aircraft was hand painted as i usually do my 1/72 kits, this was my first 1/48 scale build and i enjoyed it thoroughly, quite a bit more detail than comes in the 1/72 kits but a good change from the regular of what i am used too. All in all a nicely detailed kit and relatively easy build with hardly any joint issues and very little filler needed.

I would recommend this kit to anyone wanting a MK.VIII Spitfire at a relatively cheap price and fairly accurate model for their collection.

Academy FW 190 A6/8 KIT

The Academy was a absolute pleasure to build, kit went together well and almost no joint problems at all.
Cockpit detail was very basic but ok for anyone wanting a fairly correct FW 190 model and a quick build.

Academy FW 190 A-8 Kit

This is the Academy kit which also come with the Kubelwagen as well, kit went together quick and easy with much hassles. I enjoy the Academy kits as they are quite easy to build, the detail is fairly good and thier decals is well printed.
Academy FW 190 D-9

Another Academy kit that went together well, with unique camo scheme from JV44. Also very basic kit that went together with ease and looks pretty good when completed. A definite for anyone's FW 190 collection.
Airfix FW 190 D-9

This is the only FW 190 of Airfix i have built, it is a very basic model for a weekend build, raised panel lines which i sanded down and almost no cokpit detail to speak about. though it's a great little model for beginners and someone wanting to fill up on FW 190's at a relative inexpensive price.

Revell FW 190 A-8/R-11

This was a nicely detail kit and very easy build, only downfall was the one piece canopy provided with the kit. I guess those wanted to super detail cockpit would just get alternative open canopy but for me was just a quick and easy build.
